To expand the team, Jester is looking for an assistant curator (80%). In this role, you will be the right hand of the artistic director in terms of content and production.
Your job:
· You are the first and welcoming point of contact for the artists for substantive support, both within the residency operation and within the context of the exhibition program.
· You ensure a flow of information between the artistic leader and the production team: for each production meeting you keep a report according to a transparant template and you report back to all involved participants.
· You monitor project budgets in collaboration with the artistic leader.
· You provide substantive support to projects: preliminary research on an artist, research into addressed themes and the conceptualization of an audience program.
· You assist in preparing and proofreading communication and exhibition texts.
· You assist the artistic director in curating the residency program and the exhibition program, and help think about various forms of public participation.
· You actively search for possible collaborations and co-productions, and alternative funding options.
· You coordinate contact with our pool of experts: with curators for visits to Jester, with the artistic committee for the selection of artists.
Who are we looking for:
· You have a degree in a relevant, related field: curatorial studies, art sciences, fine arts, etc.
· Experience is not required but a plus.
· You are eager to learn and enthusiastic.
· You are a communicative team player and enjoy working with artists.
· You have organizational skills and the ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
· You have creative thinking and an affinity with current developments in contemporary art.
· You are prepared to work flexible working hours (both occasional evening and weekend work).
· You are Dutch-speaking, knowledge of English is a big plus.
· Possession of a driver's license is a plus.
