WE ARE OPENING

Jester moves to a brand new location! Join us on the opening weekend.

WE ARE OPENING

In November Jester will move to a new home. Our premises will comprise three brand new buildings: a residency house, a workplace with several studios, and a spacious exhibition hall, all connected by a garden and nestled in the unique landscape of C-mine – one of Genk’s former mine sites. These three buildings correspond to the core pillars of our organisation: living, working, and sharing. Jester runs an international residency, inviting artists to Genk to pursue research and develop new projects, while also maintaining a year-round schedule of exhibitions, events, and cultural activities.

During the weekend our doors will be open for visitors to explore the buildings and the possibilities they offer, either at their own pace or during one of the guided tours. Meet the artists and the team, and enjoy some delightful food and refreshments.

A vibrant artistic programme will introduce some ‘creative commotion’ into these pristine spaces. Jester’s brand-new exhibition hall will be transformed into a music venue, a performance stage, and a dining room. The festivities start on Friday at 7 pm with an open-mic session and a housewarming party. On Saturday and Sunday, we put a spotlight on our artists-in-residence who will share their ongoing creative processes through talks, performances, and walks. In the spirit of a housewarming, we welcome guest artists who bring Jester a gift of food, fire, word, or gesture. Together we will infuse the space with the atmosphere of conviviality and curiosity, and attempt to channel the energy already present on this historical site. Every weekend evening ends with an episode of the Jester Film series.
