Our infrastructure

What are the facilities and possibilities that Jester can provide?

Jester's studio building has several professionally equipped studios and multifunctional studios. These can be used by our residents in their creative process, with assistance from our production and studio operation staff.

Wood Workshop

The wood workshop is fully equipped for all woodworking, with machines for sawing, sanding, milling, thickness planing and long-hole drilling. In addition to this machinery, there is an extensive collection of smaller devices (cordless drills, hand saws, sanders, a Domino and Lamell bond milling machine) and every conceivable hand tool.

Our production staff are happy to assist and advise you on the use of the machines, choice of materials and machining techniques.

The metal workshop is equipped with machines for processing various types of metal: TIG welding, semi-automatic welding and oxyfuel welding, sawing, sanding, grinding, cutting and bending.

This modular space can be used for all kinds of different projects. In the back there is also a (limited) outside space available that can be accessed directly from the workshop.

Our production staff are happy to assist and advise you on the use of the machines, choice of materials and processing techniques.

Ceramics Studio

The workshop has two kilns (dimensions: 60x60x80 cm and 38x38x45 cm), both of which reach a temperature of 1320 degrees. These kilns are programmable and fully equipped for bisque firing, glazing and porcelain firing.

In addition to the kiln facilities, our ceramics workshop also contains a sandblasting booth, a smelting kiln for flat glass and a small bronze casting kiln. There are also all the tools available to process and work small and porcelain.

Our production staff are happy to assist and advise you. However, some basic knowledge and initial experience of working with ceramics is assumed. For safety reasons, the kilns cannot be used in the absence of our staff.

Digital studio

Our digital studio has a number of Apple Macs equipped with all common applications for desktop publishing (DTP), animation and video editing. All equipment for audiovisual production and presentation is available: TVs and beamers, as well as DVD players and slide projectors. You can also convert analogue media (including outdated material such as VHS or slides) to digital here.

Jester has all the facilities to print your work in many formats. Our production assistant can guide you through every step of the printing process - from preparing your image for printing to test prints on various types of paper. You can always contact him for questions and advice.

Multifunctional Studios

Apart from the workshops, our studio building houses 3 rooms of different sizes. Each room has plenty of daylight and wall space, so the applications can be very broad. You can draw or paint, write, conduct research, hold meetings or work sessions, ... . This way, you can still switch between research and the execution of your project during your residency.

Art Hall (Kunsthal)

The Art Hall is the presentation venue of the Jester building complex, with two multifunctional halls.

The Art Hall itself is a large hall with a capacity of about XX people. It is ideally suited for exhibitions and performances. The smaller Auditorium is a more intimate setting where keynotes and screenings can also be held.
